Quick Facts PJ abroad
- Every medical student in Germany must complete at least 48 weeks of the PJ.
- 16 weeks in internal medicine
- 16 weeks in surgery
- 16 weeks in an elective subject
- PJ tertials must be completed within the specified deadlines of the respective university or the respective state examination office.
- PJ tertials can be split at some universities. When splitting a tertial into two 8-week periods, the regulations regarding leave days must also be taken into account.
- The PJ abroad is recognised if the institutions meet certain criteria

During your PJ in Sri Lanka, you will have the opportunity to gain unforgettable medical experience in a fascinating environment. These diverse experiences will not only help to broaden your medical knowledge, but also deepen your understanding of patient care and the healthcare system in another country.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in various university events. These include the annual academic session of the medical faculty and religious ceremonies to honour deceased staff, especially body donations. Likewise, you can gain new and exciting insights by visiting various departments of the Faculty of Medicine. In parasitology, you will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge about poisonous snakes and other dangerous creatures. In forensic medicine, you have the opportunity to draw conclusions about the cause of an accident by analysing anatomical specimens and thus gain valuable insights.

We take the selection of our cooperation hospitals very seriously and ensure that they meet all the requirements and conditions of the state examination offices (LPAs).
